Terms of Service
Last updated: July 5, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Numa website and service (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Please read the disclaimer in “Not Legal or Tax Advice” carefully — it is important.
What Numa Does
Numa helps California homeowners evaluate whether their property may be over-assessed. For $9.99 we provide a verified analysis — based on public assessor records and comparable sales — that gives you an honest verdict and includes 3 years of monitoring. If your property appears over-assessed, you may purchase an appeal packet for $24.99, which includes evidence and filing guidance for an informal review with your county assessor and, if needed, a complimentary formal Assessment Appeals Board packet.
Not Legal or Tax Advice
Numa is an informational tool. We are not a law firm, tax advisor, or licensed appraiser, and using the Service does not create an attorney-client or other professional relationship. Our analysis and documents are for your convenience and do not constitute legal, tax, or appraisal advice. You are responsible for your own decisions, and you should consult a qualified professional for advice about your specific situation.
We do not guarantee any outcome. Whether an appeal succeeds is decided by your county assessor or Assessment Appeals Board — not by Numa. Filing an appeal may, in some cases, result in your assessed value being confirmed or increased. You file at your own discretion and risk.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to provide the property information you submit. The Service currently supports California properties, and availability may vary by county.
Accounts and Access
You can purchase an analysis without creating an account; we provide a private link tied to your purchase so you can return to your results. This link is confidential — anyone who has it can view your results, so keep it to yourself. Creating an account (via Google or email) lets you access your analysis and monitoring across devices. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and private links secure.
Fees, Payments, and Refunds
- The analysis fee is $9.99, charged before we retrieve your property data.
- The optional appeal packet is $24.99. The formal Assessment Appeals Board packet is included at no additional charge.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout and may change over time; the price shown at purchase applies to that purchase.
- Because the analysis requires us to purchase third-party data as soon as you pay, analysis fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe there was an error with your purchase, contact us and we will work with you in good faith.
Your Responsibilities and Data Accuracy
Our analysis relies on third-party and public-records data, which may be incomplete or out of date. Your official tax bill and assessor records are the authoritative source — please review the information we show you and correct it where the Service allows. You are solely responsible for verifying details and for meeting all filing deadlines. Numa is not responsible for missed deadlines or for decisions you make based on the analysis.
Third-Party Data and Services
The Service depends on third-party providers for functions such as property and public-records data, payment processing, and email delivery. We do not control these providers and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability, or practices. Their services are subject to their own terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Scrape, harvest, resell, or redistribute our data, analysis, or documents except for your own personal property tax appeal.
- Attempt to circumvent payment, access others’ results, or interfere with the security or operation of the Service.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, templates, and content, is owned by Numa and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the analysis and packet we generate for your own property tax appeal. You may not resell or commercially redistribute them.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any analysis, estimate, or document will be accurate or produce a particular result.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Numa and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost savings, profits, or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to Numa in the 12 months before the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Numa from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
Changes and Termination
We may update these Terms or the Service at any time. When we update the Terms, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and your continued use means you accept the changes. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or to Numa.
